A question of love

a short poem written for my wife and read at our wedding

do my eyes entrance you as i lose myself in your gaze?

can i transcend the bonds of language to touch your soul?
can i awaken in you what you have stirred in me?

does your skin ache for my touch?
does it tingle with the same energy that overwhelms me
when i feel your skin on mine?
does anything else matter when you're in my arms?

do your dreams taste less sweet after kissing my lips?
do you wake with your eyes closed, lying in still anticipation
that i might be there as you open your eyes?

do you approach life now with the innocence and astonishment as
you once did as a child?

are you learning what love is everyday?
do my eyes entrance you as i lose myself in your gaze?

can i transcend the bonds of language to touch your soul?
can i awaken in you what you have stirred in me?

does your skin ache for my touch?
does it tingle with the same energy that overwhelms me
when i feel your skin on mine?
does anything else matter when you're in my arms?

do your dreams taste less sweet after kissing my lips?
do you wake with your eyes closed, lying in still anticipation
that i might be there as you open your eyes?

do you approach life now with the innocence and astonishment as
you once did as a child?

are you learning what love is everyday?
